Goat Management
We are attempting to raise our goats like deer. Like deer, goats love the edge effect, that transition zone of forest to field. The edge effect produces a smorgasbord of browse and graze. Put simply, browse is weeds, leaves and woody stuff. Graze is grasses and clovers. Our goats feast on this buffet that nature provides. That is the bulk of their diet. The goal is to maintain optimal health and happiness. We supplement their diet with conventional feed, minerals and winter hay.
Our goats have the run of the place.
They have us trained to feed them treats, rub their necks, trim their hooves and take them for walks. Our goat management model is "free and content." |
